My Top 7 Abraham-Hicks Teachings

I love surrounding myself with inspiring words. I’ve spent countless hours reading everything from ancient scriptures to blogs and Facebook posts intended to uplift and enlighten. While I’m glad to have been exposed to a wide range of teachings, I’ve realized that I could probably live a fairly happy, fulfilling life with just a handful of basic premises, teachings, and quotes.

With this in mind, I recently created a personal “best-of” list of about a dozen such teachings, about half of which came from Abraham-Hicks (who coined the phrase Law of Attraction and teach this concept, which has since been popularized in the movie The Secret and elsewhere). So, in fairness to everyone else, I’ve decided to create two separate lists. (I’ll feature the “Everyone Else” list in my next post.)

If this is your introduction to the Law of Attraction or the Teachings of Abraham, don’t worry if not all of it makes sense right away (especially idiosyncratic phrases such as “contrasts launch rockets of desire”) — just take in what resonates and let go of the rest. (Also, if you’re interested, you can learn more about them through their books, YouTube videos, or their website.)

This is by no means intended to be a comprehensive overview, just a snippet of the parts that resonate the most with me (a sort of “Desert-Island Abraham”) — the 7 teachings that, even if I had nothing else, could form the basis of a very satisfying, rich, joyful personal experience.

So, here they are (in semi-logical/flowing order, rather than ranked by importance):

1. “The basis of your life is freedom, the purpose of your life is joy, and the result of your life is expansion.” — First of all, if we didn’t have freedom, the rest of this post (and all teachings) would be irrelevant. If we didn’t have a choice, then there’s nothing we could do to change our lives — we’d be puppets in the hand of Fate. But we do have a choice! Freedom is at the basis of who we are; we are freedom-seeking beings! (And perhaps the greatest freedom is the freedom to decide what we focus on — what we give our attention and energy to. [More on this later.]) But what would be the point of using of freedom of choice if it just made us miserable? Why are we doing all this choosing, focusing, and freedom-seeking? For the joy of it! And what happens as we do this? Our lives expand, WE expand, and the entire universe expands! Forever.

Script: “The world has become too absurd to be satirized.” The great English writer, G.K. Chesterton, said that way back in 1911, long before math was considered racist and biological men were allowed to compete against women in sports. One can only imagine what he would say if he were alive today. At The Babylon Bee, where we write satire for a living, we’re feeling Chesterton’s pain in a big way. Just look at these headlines that were satirical at the time we wrote them… On May 9, 2017, we ran this headline:  ‘2+2=4,’ Insists Closed-Minded Bigot  That was a joke, of course. But on August 10, 2020, the Washington Examiner published this story:  Math professor claims equation 2+2=4 ‘reeks of white supremacist patriarchy’ On August 13, 2020, we ran this headline:  BLM Rioters Awarded Nobel Peace Prize  At the time we thought this was obvious satire, but on January 29, 2021, this story was published in The Guardian:  Black Lives Matter movement nominated for Nobel Peace Prize On March 25, 2020, we ran this headline:  Pants Sales Plummet As Everyone Working From Home  The very next day, this story appeared in Yahoo! Finance:  Amid coronavirus, Walmart says it’s seeing increased sales of tops—but not bottoms I could go on. Our satirical headlines are proving to be prophetic with astonishing regularity. So what does this mean for humor and satire? Well, for one thing, it makes our job much more difficult. You might be surprised to hear that. The crazier reality is, the easier it is to make fun of, right? Actually, it’s the opposite. Satire exaggerates the truth to make a point. But when reality is this absurd, and extreme views and behavior are commonplace, how do you go a step beyond it? Almost anything we publish now ends up being believable. And much of it ends up actually coming true, as you’ve just seen. This is exactly what Chesterton was talking about. It’s one of the ways the left is killing satire: by turning reality into a parody of itself. There’s another, more intentional and insidious way the left is killing satire, and that’s through censorship. We published an article a couple of years ago with this over-the-top headline:  CNN Purchases Industrial-Sized Washing Machine To Spin News Before Publication  Believe it or not, Snopes fact-checked this story. I mean, come on…a washing machine? To spin the news? That’s an obvious joke. But Snopes fact-checked it and rated it “false”—as if we had written a serious story.  It used to be that jokes were either funny or not—they made you laugh, or they didn’t—but now, in the fact-checking age, we’re giving them a truth rating. Jokes are no longer funny—they’re false. And false information is dangerous. In response to the Snopes fact check, Facebook warned us that we’d be demonetized and de-platformed if we continued publishing “fake news.” It should go without saying that there’s a big difference between fake news—which is meant to deceive—and satire, which is meant to entertain and inform through mockery, humor, and irony. But the left benefits by blurring this distinction. If they can successfully lump us in with fake news, then they can shut us down. It’s that simple. These fact checks—which often smear us by suggesting we’re purposefully misleading people—are nothing more than a creative, conniving way of justifying censorship. But why would anyone want to censor satire? Why is Facebook paying USA Today to write lengthy refutations of our jokes? (Yes, they actually do that.) Because humor is ultimately a vehicle for truth delivery, and the truth can be offensive. Think about all the things you’re not allowed to say anymore—not because they’re false, but because they make people uncomfortable. Satire cuts right through the pretense and political correctness to expose uncomfortable truths, and it does so more ruthlessly and effectively than anything else. “Quo Warranto Filed in the Arizona Supreme Court by We the people of Arizona potentially unseating all state elected officials read by Daniel Wood as a witness on behalf of Arizona citizens” May 7, 2021

On Friday, May 7, 2021 @ 10:34 AM MST (Arizona time), Daniel Wood went live on his Facebook account speaking outside the Supreme Court House in Phoenix, Arizona as a witness on behalf of Arizona citizens. He read out loud the Official Quo Warranto press release, which is as follows:

“Quo Warranto Filed in the Arizona Supreme Court by We the people of Arizona potentially unseating all state elected officials

As average citizens of Arizona, from all walks of life, we have discovered that our past elections in 2018 thru 2020 are out of compliance per the U.S. Election Assistance Commission [EAC]. The Help America Vote Act [HAVA] of 2002 established the EAC and our State of Arizona takes a strict view on this Federal Election Law. Our State of Arizona went out of compliance in February of 2017 (or possibly sooner) and was only recently purported to be re-certified in January 2021. There are multiple problems with the documentation regarding contractor laboratories that invalidate any machine certification. A certification can only last for a maximum of two years, and there are very important reasons for this. This will either unseat every state level politician in Arizona or declare every Federal Law applied to Arizona as unlawful.

The violation of Federal law is due to No Certification of the Voting System Machine, which includes all aspects of machine from hardware to software to add-ons by the Voting System Test Laboratories. The VSTL is accredited and overseen by the EAC per the HAVA act and is critical to the compliance and standards set forth by Law. This accreditation must be thoroughly vetted every two years.

Arizona takes a strict view of Federal Elections Law Per A.R.S. §16-442(B): “Machines or devices used at any election for federal, state or county offices may only be certified for use in this state and may only be used in this state if they comply with the help America vote act of 2002 and if those machines or devices have been tested and approved by a laboratory that is accredited pursuant to the Help America Vote Act of 2002.”
