Rediscovering Our Deep Belonging with the Earth

As we witness the global pandemic and economic collapse, it has never been more apparent that our world is changing. As many have noted, the current public health crisis is not entirely separate from the climate crisis—rather, both are part of a larger tapestry of global change.

Joanna Macy, the 90-year-old environmental activist, author, and inspiring teacher of Buddhism and deep ecology, describes this moment in human history as The Great Turning, a revolutionary shift from an industrial growth society to a life-sustaining culture.

The present failure of our systems and destruction of the natural world easily generates a sense of fear, grief, and despair. But Macy insists there is still much we can do. We can meet this moment with gratitude and a sense of adventure, a love for our imperfect world, and a commitment to transform our despair into creative action.

In a powerful and encouraging conversation with Tricycle’s Editor and Publisher, James Shaheen, for the Tricycle Talks podcast, Macy shares her perspective on the present time of unraveling and transformation—and the opportunity we’re being given to rediscover our deep belonging with the Earth.

Regular Exercise Can Protect Against Deadly Coronavirus Complications, Study Says

Dr. Zhen Yan: “We cannot live in isolation forever. Regular exercise has far more health benefits than we know. The protection against this severe respiratory disease condition is just one of the many examples.”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is one of the major complications caused by COVID-19. Even though only a small percentage of coronavirus patients develop ARDS, the majority of those cases end up in the intensive care unit. According to a researcher at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, regular exercise could hold the key to keeping patients from developing deadly complications like ARDS.

Dr. Zhen Yan says his research found a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against disease and can be produced through exercise. Yan’s study shows ARDS affects between three and 17 percent of COVID-19 patients. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention adds that about 20 to 42 percent of hospitalized coronavirus cases will develop ARDS. Prior to the global pandemic, researchers said nearly half of severe ARDS cases turn fatal.

Who Fact Checks the ‘Fact Checkers’ On the Origin of the CCP Virus(Coronavirus)? | Joshua Philipp

The Epoch Times published an investigative documentary looking into the origins of the new coronavirus, the CCP Virus, on April 7. The video rapidly went viral on multiple platforms, with more than 70 million views. Then Facebook flagged the video as “False,” and sent alerts to people who shared the video, alleging they had shared false information.

After reviewing the claims, The Epoch Times responded, and noted in an open letter that the Facebook fact check contained a factual error, a conflict of interest, and had other issues that call into question whether the “False” label was warranted.

And the World Health Organization (WHO) has been deeply involved in an information campaign against the so-called “infodemic” of information about the virus, and has worked closely with social networks to contest what it deems as “misinformation.” This comes as the WHO is being globally criticized for spreading the Chinese regime’s false information on the virus.

Abraham-Hicks Daily Quote – April 18, 2020

baja-sunset-940x480-1

When you are in alignment with who-you-really-are, you cannot help but uplift those with whom you come into contact. Your value to those around you hinges upon only one thing: your personal alignment with Source. And the only thing you have to give to another is an example of that alignment—which they may observe, then desire, and then work to achieve—but you cannot give it to them. Everyone is responsible for the thoughts they think and the things that they choose as their objects of attention.
